Preserving and interpreting the lives of those who have lived here is the mission of the Carteret County Historical Society, fostered largely by member volunteers. The museum is centrally located, near Morehead City’s old Train Depot, the waterfront and just a short drive to the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. Within the History Museum of Carteret County, locals, part-time residents, and visitors alike experience our history through our collections of documents, photographs, and objects that illustrate the lives of this rural county’s inhabitants.
